Chapter 25 – Yandere and Loved One Part 2

“Senpai is going to tie the knot with me.
There is no future other than that.”

Tsubaki interrupted me before I could even respond.
Normally, I’d quibble about the position she’s taking, but in this deadly atmosphere, I’m hesitant to do so.

“Is that so? Looking at the way the two of you have been acting so far, it seems to me that Takenaga-sensei doesn’t like Honjo-san.”

“Huh? What do you know? Do you want to use your specialty, séance techniques, to gauge senpai’s feelings? Ah, I’m sorry.
You don’t have that much power, do you? Unlike your grandmother, you’re a fake.”

“Oi Tsubaki, that’s going too far…”

By the time I intervened, it was too late.
Asai-sensei’s eyes are gradually becoming wet.
It’s probably because Tsubaki stepped on the part Asai-sensei doesn’t want to be touched the most.
This is a dire situation.
I don’t think this is my fault, but on the other hand, I feel responsible for bringing them together.

I have to do something.

“I-I know that I…don’t have any talent.
but…that doesn’t mean…I should just give up.
Hua… I’m sure….you don’t understand.”

Asai-sensei tried her best to spin the words in a hoarse voice.
For the first time, I’m seriously angry with Tsubaki.
However, scolding Tsubaki here will not make the situation any better.

Then, there’s only one thing I can do.

“Asai-sensei, calm down and listen.”

“Takenaga-sensei…”

“I don’t really know about psychic abilities, but maybe there is an uncontrollable difference in ability between you and your grandmother, Asai-sensei, and I can understand how that might be frustrating.”

“……”

“Still, out of the kindness of your heart, you took us to meet your grandmother.
To be that accommodating to Tsubaki, a vicious woman, is not something one can normally do.”

“Hey, senpai, what do you mean, vicious?”

“I’ll talk to you later, so just be patient.”

“Hmph.”

Tsubaki looks miffed, but it seems she got the idea that I was serious.
Rather than dealing with her mood, I have to deal with Asai-sensei first.

“But I really don’t have any talent…”

“If so, let me ask you, Asai-sensei, why do you want the talent?”

“That is, I should not disgrace the Asai name as a member of the Asai family…”

“Is that really all?”

Asai-sensei holds the side of her head with her left hand and thinks steadily.
I see, this person has been living unconsciously all her life, unaware of the “axis” that supports herself.

“I… I…wanted to help people like my grandma…”

That’s right.
Asai-sensei has always been straightforward.
Her methods and forcefulness aren’t very commendable, but nevertheless, she’s always acted for the sake of someone else, with no thought of profit or loss, and with pure motives.

Whether she’s clunky or not, and whether she has or has no talent, Asai-sensei is not a bad person.
That much I can say without a doubt.

“Well, you can’t do it as smartly as your grandmother.
But there must be something that only you can do, Asai-sensei.
This is not my whim.
As proof of this, all the students at the cram school adore Asai-sensei, don’t they?”

“Takenaga-sensei…”

Asai-sensei stares at me with moist eyes.
They are different from the cold tears she just cried, they are eyes with heat.
I hope this helps her recover a little…

“Wait, you didn’t forget about me, did you?”

Tsubaki’s tone was calm and cool.
I feel ashamed of myself for sending Asai-sensei such enthusiastic encouragement.
But I must not be discouraged.

“Tsubaki, I have something to say to you as well.”

“Is it preaching? I can listen to senpai for hours.”

Tsubaki replied with an attitude that indicates that she’s not concerned at all.
I must be on my guard right now.
If I’m not careful, I’ll be the one paying the price.

“Tsubaki, I’m sorry.”

“Eh? Why? Why is senpai apologizing?”

“It’s my fault.
I’m really sorry.”

“What is it? Please stop this…”

Tsubaki looks bewildered as I bow my head deeply.
Tsubaki’s tone of voice had lost some of its reserve, so much so that I could tell without looking at her face.

“Tsubaki has been always thinking about me, but I must have disrespected her feelings.
That’s probably why you took it out on Asai-sensei so hard.
I’m sorry.”

“Y-You’re wrong.
Senpai did nothing wrong.
It was because that woman was getting carried away…”

“Ah, that’s right.
I owe Asai-sensei an apology too… I made her uncomfortable…”

“Please stop this… It wasn’t senpai’s fault.
I was the one who verbally abused Asai-san, so how could senpai be the one to take the blame?”

Tsubaki may be vicious, but she’s not without a human heart.
Although she rebels when confronted with aggressive posturing, she doesn’t have the guts to step on her opponent’s head when they come at her in this manner.

Even more so, I, the person she has feelings for, am the one bowing down to her and acting miserably.
Tsubaki must feel guilty if she doesn’t end it here.

I’ve known Tsubaki for a reasonably long time, and I’ve come to know her weaknesses well enough.

“I would rather apologize myself than have senpai apologize to her.
Is that alright?”

“Is that so? I’m really sorry, Tsubaki… For my inadequacy.”

“That’s enough! Asai-san, I apologize for earlier.
I was out of line.”

“No, I’m sorry for being so presumptuous.
There really was a mutual trust between you two.”

“As long as you understand…”

Okay, I think I’ve managed to get this situation under control.

I secretly glance at my watch so that Tsubaki won’t notice.
It’s already 23:00.
I should call it a night or else I’ll be in trouble for a lot of things.

“Asai-sensei, are you sure you can catch the last train? It’s about time.”

“Ah, it seems so.
My parents are worried about me, so I’m going home.
I’m sorry I took your time for so long.”

If Asai-sensei leaves at this point, there will be no more complications.
I regret that I couldn’t go out for a drink with Asai-sensei, but it couldn’t be helped.

Asai-sensei turned her back to us and started walking away.
Now I just need to send this girl off and be done for today…

As I was thinking that, Asai-sensei turned around again and smiled at me.

“Ah, Takenaga-sensei.
Can I have one last word?”

“Hmm?”

Before I could say aloud, “Is there more you want to say?” my body was suddenly enveloped by something soft.

Eh, what’s this? It smells kinda good.

“I was really happy to hear what you said to me.
Please continue to be a good friend to me.”

Asai-sensei whispered this in my ear as she hugged me.

Then, she ran away from me and towards the station building.
While Tsubaki and I were stunned, the shadow disappeared behind the stairs of the station building.

After a while, Tsubaki came to her senses and started to run.
I quickly ran after Tsubaki and managed to catch her and pin her down with my hands.

“Let go of me! That woman is not leaving here alive!”

“Wait, Tsubaki, if you make too much noise in the middle of the night, you’ll get the station staff in trouble, okay? Do it some other time.”

“I’ll burn the whole station to the ground! That b***h, she’ll be sorry in h**l!”

“Stop it, Tsubaki! The train is already on its way! Look, you can see Asai-sensei through the window!”

“She’s even waving her hand! That bitchhh!!!”

By the time the rampaging Tsubaki’s strength weakened, it was already around midnight.

“Hah…hah… I’m going to kill her… That b***h thinks she can make a fool out of people…”

For me, I was sticky with sweat and just wanted to go home to take a shower as soon as possible.
