I woke up and a world of pain lay within my bones. I knew deep inside that if my consciousness awoke so would this deathened world. I found myself above the ground, probably being carried by Chlora, I assumed.

The Snow behind us had become soggen due to the invisible excretes from the monster. Looking back, I noticed just how long the trail was. She must have been walking for a while. I used the time before I would black out oncemore to check our states.

My entire body was in a state of buzzing. Not a good sign, I assumed. My bloodied knee was still bloodied and I noticed that my right arm was in an awkward position. Disclocated?

I sighed inarrdly as I looked at its state. Just seeing it made me feel uncomfortable. My body was now battered and beaten, my dislocated arm was the result of throwing the sword in what must have been a millisecond.

I don think Ive ever relied on my genius more in a fight. Well, it was the only way forward to be fair to myself.

I stopped thinking about faults of my own and looked at the girl, Chlora.

Her hands were a concerning purple and she was biting her lip in pain. Her armour was bloodied from the inside and her sword was barely hanging on to her aching wrist. She held her pendulum close to her heart as her steps become more and more unstable.

Oh. We weren even going to make it back. All of those heroic moments just to die a forgotten mans death.

I tried to bring out my voice yet all I could do was clear my throat. Causing the girls eyes to widen as her eyebrows rose in alarm.

She oponend her mouth to speak however all that came out was a muddled cough.

She kept trying, resulting in more and more coughing.

Stop.Just stop.

And that she did.

I looked behind us, the path had already been covered in a layer of ethereal snow.

Her once snow-white hair was now a light pink. And not for fashion.

I heard several buzzes and crackling noises coming from below.

I looked down to see a bizzare sight.

My hands had become so close that they had actually started to connect. The strands of red lightning soon magnified and became a small bush.

I tried to move my fingers however the intense pain and unfound results caused me to stop.

Please notice. I begged as she kept walking forwards.

I could only watch as our end slowly grew.

From a small bush of dancing strands to a limpid sun of crazied madness. I couldn even fire it. In fear of crippling my already crippled state.

It was only after another minute that the lightning grew so large, loud and boisterous that she could no longer ignore what she thought to be her head spinning.

She looked behind me with sunken eyes which soon lit up in fear.

I heard her rabid breath as she inhaled a thick line of smoked air from the fields.

The lightning was crashed down by her blade landing on a tree.

Due to her unexpected swing, I fell and landed in the snow.

Wow. My health must be pretty bad if I can even feel the cold of this white-land. I talked to myself depressively as I watched her attempt and fail to pick me up.

On the 4th attempt she fell. From fatigue and tire.

And she never got up.

So we waited. In what I assumed was the blistering cold, for our untimely deaths.

When I woke, I saw a light above me, blinding and in my face. I saw a mans silhouette in this light, the top of his short hair pointing upwards. Oh, it was the girls mentor. I could see the girl standing behind her mentor, my guardians study door was open. Traces of his shadow could be seen lurking.

Green light coursed over me, before a green liquid coursed through my veins. After that, I got touched alot. A concerning amount. If not for my condition this would certainly be illegal in some way or another.

After a while, the old man rose his staff and plummeted it into my guts.

My face curled up and my mouth spat spit out. It landed back on my face as I revolted and gargled inside.

Soon however, my injuries began burning. Every spot from the front to the back. I was then released from my position and put on a chair. He wiped my face with a leather parchment and my control gradually came back.

First, I moved a finger. Then two and then my hand. I rolled my wrists before slowly my whole body began to stabilize.

The old man began to talk, though it looked like he was silently mouthing as all I heard was a muffled stream of sentences.

Slowly my ears stopped ringing and my earbuds tuned in.

”Thank god you did that attack, the smoke allowed me to get to you kids in time… ”

”Thats why I wanted to thank you for saving my students life more than once… ”

”Maybe we can stay for a bit longer. ”

He showed a gracious smile with closed eyes, revealing pearly white teeth.

I smiled back lightly.

”Its nothing. ”

I looked at the girl who hid behind her master.

”Thanks. ”

Good. I got my word in. Now it was time to train.

I can remain weak if Im meant to be a genius. I can be a genius if I remain weak.

”Thanks. ”

I heard it as the door shut behind me lightly.

I smiled a little I must confess.

I just wondered. Things hadn been so bad. Rather out of place. I sat down outside the cottage. Looked at the smoke that fumed out the chimney and smiled. To myself, my life and my oppurtnites. Maybe even a bit towards my genius.

I wanted to swallow these emotions and grow them. I wanted to be happier. I wanted to just relax now. And not have a care in the world.

I lay down and let myself fall to the stress.

I felt everything die down. Before it all came back.

Odd. What was happen-.

I was choked.

My head was raised forcefully as my air streams were blocked off. Crushed together. I looked down. There was nothing there.

I felt the air in my lungs slowly disperse as my crushed neck was gripped even harder.

I held onto the thing that was gripping my kneck. My legs flailed and kicked wildly at the floor.

I looked down with seething eyes. I was angry. Why was this happening?

I was seconds from death. Rage turned to despair.Sadness. Sorrow.

I don want to die.

My once happy emotions had almost trembled and shook before they were replaced. Wait. Were my emotions being manipulated?

Well. It didn matter now.

I was dead.

”Haa. Haa. Haa. Hauhg. ”

I coughed and spluttered, my knees on the wooden tiles and my hands holding onto the railing.

My eyes were bulging and my throat was starting to inflate back to its usual position.

My hands were shaking and my emotions kept changing, against my will and control.

I caressed my neck and held my lungs. As the air returned and my emotions stabilized, my mind finally voiced itself.

I was a second from death.

If whatever just attacked me managed to last one more second. I wouldve died.

The emotions I felt as I was assaulted. It wasn my emotions.

It was its.

I felt a desperate charge for victory, a seething revenge and insanities pleasure in my last moments.

I looked to my right.

Its you.

I don know what I saw. Because I saw nothing.

But I felt like I met eyes with something. A monster or creature. It was invisible, just like the ravine creature. It was.

The ravine creature.

And it was trying to kill me.

I didn dare touch it. And it didn dare touch me.

Not whilst I was on guard and already preparing world-energy stores around us.

We had an invisible showdown. And I had an invisible crisis.

”Hello. ”

The girl looked at me as I walked back in, rabidly panting and still caressing my neck.

”Are you oka-. ”

I blacked out.

Her worried face was what I saw.

And behind it were two eyes.

Two invisible eyes. Staring me down, hunting me. Preparing me. For my seemingly inevitable demise.
