Base Completion
The following items are needed: a rest area, a dining hall, a toilet, a warehouse, and a gate at the entrance to the dungeon.
A pulley was installed on the cliff to obtain water.
Incidentally, the brothel and the gambling hall, which were requested by many people, were rejected.
At this stage, the maximum number of people is 60 to 70.
It would be better to make the building more spacious in case it becomes full.
It would be like the soldiers’ quarters we built before.
This is a cliff, so let’s make good use of it.
“Van-sama…will it be all right like this?”
Arte anxiously expresses such a thought.
“Don’t worry, it’ll be fine.”
I answer lightly as we build the floor and stairs between the pillars.
Because of its unique shape, the outer walls are being built last.
The floor and stairs are being built while several large, sturdy pillars are being erected.
The windows are small.
The rock wall next to the entrance of the dungeon has a good slope, so we are building next to it, but the shape is gradually becoming more and more difficult.
The rock wall is not constant in angle and shape.
Well, it is a little slanted, which is good for leaning the building against, but not as I had expected.
Nevertheless, the retro Japanese-style hotel built along the mountainside that I had imagined was completed.
Well, it was much similar to Jiufen in Taiwan, though.
The first floor is used as a rest area and a warehouse, and the second floor has a cafeteria and three sleeping rooms for four people.
The third and fourth floors have six similar napping rooms each.
In total, there are 15 nap rooms.
Four toilets were built on each floor.
A cistern was built on the roof to store rainwater, so as long as the filter is properly maintained, the toilets can be used as flush toilets.
We installed iron bars and door panels on the windows.
This will be safe even if demonic beasts come.
I nodded as I looked at the building rising at an angle from the outside.
“You saw the inside when we were making it, so I won’t explain it, but I’ll just give you a brief overview, okay?”
Till, Camsin, Espada, and the others were smiling, and Arte was blinking his eyes as well.
“First, it’s slanted because to make it sturdier, we drove deep piles in two directions, into the rock wall and into the ground.
It’s a bit stair-stepped for the center of gravity, but you can use that as a terrace or something.
As for the toilet, if we clean the net of the cistern on the roof once a week or so, we can use it for flushing all the time.
You can’t use it for drinking water, okay? Be careful.”
After giving a brief explanation, he looks at the faces of the adventurers.
“…Do you understand?”
“Yes, yes!”
The adventurers responded with a conditioned reflex, but it was rather suspicious.
I am uncertain if they were listening to what I was saying.
They had no choice but to turn to Espada.
“I’ll leave the management of the base to you, Espada.
Make sure you train everyone well.”
“Ha ha ha…I understand.”
He adds an explanation to Espada, who smiles in annoyance.
“Also, we set up a gate at the entrance to the dungeon, but shouldn’t we keep it closed during normal hours? If we decide on what time during the day and from what time during the day, it’s not likely to be left open.”
“Oh, I might have to talk to the other guys there.
Some guys hide at night… but it’s definitely better to keep the gate closed when no one’s around.
If a bad guy comes out, you have to buy a little time with the gate.”
“The gate is plywood with a mithril board in the center as well, so I think it’s pretty tenacious.
I think the green forest dragon we saw last time could hold them back for at least a day, right?”
“…Are you serious?”
Espada nods with a laugh at the astonished Espada.
“Oh, you can all go inside the building now, okay?”
As if remembering, he said this and the adventurers rushed out.
Once inside, the cheers started coming in one after the other.
“Wait, what’s this?
“Hey, we can sleep in the dining room!”
“You idiot.
You can sleep in the dining room!”
I thought I heard a lot of noise, but then someone came out from the terrace on the fourth floor.
“Wow, what a view! You can see what’s going on around here!”
“Hyahaha! The terrace is mine!”
A few adventurers’ faces appear through the small windows on the wall.
They look like dingoes.
I have to ask them to keep their doors closed because I’ve installed more small windows for lighting.
As I’m thinking this, I realize it’s time to go home.
“Ah! Hey everyone! It’s time to go home! It’s time to be my Guard!”
I raised my hands as I called everyone out.
Then, all the chin sea eagles came out at once.
“Already?”
“It’s still bright!”
“I want to go home and take a nap!”
Complaints came in rapid succession.
“I have a curfew until the sun goes down! I’m going home! I’m the one who’s going to get in trouble with Espada!”
As he yells this, a moment is left open, and stifled laughter escapes from all parts of the base.
Shall we destroy the newly built base?
I cross my arms and wait for the adventurers to come out.
After a minute or two, the adventurers finally line up in front of us.
“Come on, we’re leaving! Hurry up or you’ll miss dinner!”
I said, and they all laughed happily.
“Ha-ha-ha!”
“Yes, sir!”
“I’m running home!”
The adventurers are excited.
These people are completely licking their chops.
I’m angry, but I know they don’t mean it, so I don’t say anything.
As I was being carried on the palanquin by Till and the others, laughing at me and getting angry, I heard a voice from outside.
“Van-sama! There’s another cliff!
I looked out the window at the voice and saw the cliff I remembered seeing earlier.
It was such a big cliff from a distance….
I was shocked and at the same time I felt a twinge of fear.
“Such a dangerous place, let’s improve it immediately!”
I built a bridge.
It was simpler than the previous one, but it would still be possible to cross it with a carriage.
I would have to build two more bridges before I could get through the forest.
As a result, I arrived back at the village around the same time as sunset.
The huge main gate of the castle wall is open, and behind the gate are Espada and Van.
Van had his arms crossed with a blank face, but Espada was scarier than that.
Espada, always expressionless and Buddha-like, was smiling.
Espada waited for him with a soft face, but he could not stop shaking.
It was dark, so Espada was holding a lamp.
Lit from below by the lamp’s light, Espada’s smile is tinged with madness.
“Van-sama.”
“Hiii!”
A scream came out of my mouth.
“I need to talk to you.
Come on, this way.”
“Oh, my! Tell them we’re having dinner now!”
I called for help, but everyone looked away at once.
“Till!”
“I’ll come with you.”
Not that!
“Camsin!”
“I can’t.”
“What do you mean, you can’t!”
“Arte!”
“Ah, eh, me?”
Not you too!
“Espada-dono! They all asked for this!”
I complained, and Espada stepped forward, perhaps feeling responsible.
“Uh…Espada-dono, well, this whole thing is our fault…”
Good one, Espada; yes, Van, it’s not your fault.
“Shut up.”
“…hey.”
But the moment Espada said a few words, he backed down.
In the end, I was lectured by Espada until midnight.
