Chapter 50: The Reason for Love

After about an hour’s time, Qianhe Liyou slowly opened her eyes and ended up facing a pair of black eyes.
The tenderness and admiration contained in that gaze was too late to conceal.

“Empress, you have awoken?” Anhui replied in a slightly hoarse voice, but it was laced with obvious surprise.

Qianhe Liyou did not speak and just stared straight at Anhui’s eyes.
Her deep eyes were like black swirling whirlpools, giving off the feeling that they would swallow everything in sight, making people irresistibly sink into that abyss.

Anhui tried to dodge this and he was flustered by the Empress’ intense gaze.
Not knowing what earth-shattering words the Empress would say in the next moment, but he could not tear his eyes away, so he could only blankly stare at the Empress.

Finally, Qianhe Liyou moved.
She stretched out her hand to grab Anhui’s neck, pressing his head downwards to her own and then a strong kiss followed…

After being kissed for the second time, Anhui clearly knew what the Empress was doing to him, but his reaction was not any better than the first time.
He still dazedly allowed the Empress to kiss him, letting himself become entranced by her strong aura and he was unable to extricate himself from indulging in it.

When Qianhe Liyou released Anhui, Anhui recovered a trace of clear-headedness, his face turning bright red.
He raised his head but he did not dare to move his body, the Empress was still reclining in his lap.
Even in this situation, he would take into account the Empress’s comfort and he feared that such movements would be too big and disturb the Empress.

“Anhui, you are not ugly.
Feeling inferior because of your appearance is something that foolish people do.
You are extremely intelligent, do not feel inferior because of this kind of thing”.
It can be said that the men in the palace all have their own strengths and weaknesses, each of them possessing a set of distinct and unique characteristics.
And as for Anhui’s characteristics, they were extremely outstanding, especially his appearance, which was the most resolute amongst all the men.
In terms of appearance, she thought Anhui was extremely good, but if Anhui felt inferior in this aspect, she did not want this.

Anhui’s complexion had turned a dark red.
Although the Empress’ words were meant to comfort him, he still felt quite embarrassed.
Some of it was embarrassment from being seen through so easily.
He actually did not really care about his appearance, but if it is for other people, especially if it was the Empress, how could he not care?

Thinking back to this, a thread of loneliness graced Anhui’s expression.
When Qianhe Liyou saw this, thinking that Anhui did not believe her words, her expression sank slightly and she intensified her tone, “You do not believe what zhen said.”

“In truth, this subordinate does not care that much.
Even if there were no scars, it would not be much better.
Empress, you do not need to comfort this subordinate.
Furthermore, this subordinate does not have an inferiority complex, I am just practical and realistic, seeking truth from the facts.
This subordinate pondered over many matters right now and there is something that this subordinate knows I should not mention, but still wants to say.
All the niangniang[1] are greatly looking forward to the Empress’s favor.
The Empress should go to the niangniang, as for Anhui….Anhui is truly not worthy.”

The Empress had kissed him.
No matter how stupid or naive he was, he knew that the Empress was interested in him, but the sentiment would not last long.
He did not mind being a toy for the Empress to relieve her boredom, but with his appearance, he felt that he was not even worthy of being a toy!

Qianhe Liyou felt a headache coming on, her mind full of the two words“stubborn-headed”.
Not mentioning whether he cared or not, she had already listed so many of his good points and he still kept saying that he was unworthy, truly treating her words as coming into one ear and coming out the next!

Qianhe Liyou was not a person who was good with words, nor was she particularly patient and she was even more unwilling to repeat what she had previously said.
Therefore, when faced with Anhui’s stubbornness, she chose to directly prove it with her actions!

Qianhe Liyou kissed Anhui again, but this time, it was not on the lips, but the scar on his forehead….

Anhui could feel how tightly the hand holding him was and how gentle and tender the kiss on his scar was.
He wanted to retreat, but there was no room to retreat.
At this moment, he suddenly had a realization: the reason why he liked the Empress and fell in love with her was because he really could not resist the Empress’ gentleness buried within the domineering shell.

Moreover, these were the only types of people that he could truly surrender his heart to….

‘Don’t let zhen catch wind of your inferiority complex again and don’t let zhen hear the word unworthy again or next time, I will kiss you next time in public.
At that time, maybe you will truly understand what zhen means then….” Qianhe Liyou murmured this in a low tone next to Anhui’s ear, her voice low and hoarse, as if it was filled to the brim with an alluring and enchanting connotation.
Anhui deeply remembered this statement in his heart.

After saying this, Qianhe Liyou let go of Anhui and stood up straight from Anhui’s legs.
This action of hers had been very strange and it was obviously not a normal martial art skill.
Anhui’s eyes widened and he only felt a sense of awe and incredulity.
As a martial artist himself, he believed that he would never be able to imitate this action, which showed that the Empress’ martial art skill must be unfathomable.

“Let’s go, stop looking so dazed.” What happened today would probably be in the back of Anhui’s mind for a while and she decided not to stimulate him any further.
There were some things he would have to figure out himself…

“Yes.”

The Sang Empire’s envoys had been sent back to their country.
Their arrival had not been very glorious and they cut an even sorrier picture as they departed.
The treatment and suffering of the Sang Empire in the Qianhe Dynasty was considered to be very miserable and it quickly became the joke of the entire world, and as such the war exploded again in this tense atmosphere!

“Empress, Yun guiren[2}requests an audience.” Fengying reported this.

Qianhe Liyou nodded and motioned to let Yun guiren enter.

‘This concubine greets the Empress, many blessings to the Empress.”

It had been many days since she last saw Yun Tailing, but he had turned tanner and his expression contained much more firmness and self-confidence.
There was also a suddenly bright and luminous feeling, like a bird who had unfurled its wings, spreading its wings and flying high, confident and beautiful.

‘What is the matter?” One does not visit a temple without a cause[3], naturally, Yun Tailing would not visit unless there was something.
As for what the matter was about, she also had conjectured the answer in her heart.

‘The war has started again and this concubine wants to ask, can this concubine go to the battlefield?” Yun Tailing looked serious and calm, his eyes no longer carrying indifference and disgust, but rather respect and reverence in addition to admiration and gratitude.
He never thought that he would have such an experience, carved in the bones and engraved in the heart[4], forever unforgettable.
All those memories would become his life’s precious treasures and the reason he could have these treasures were all thanks to the person in front of him.
She had given him such an opportunity to let him experience the true meaning of life.

“If that is what you desire, then so be it.
But, you have been on the battlefield for so long, have you not come up with any other ideas?”

‘“Empress, what does your Majesty mean?” Yun Tailing asked in a suspicious tone, not quite understanding what Qianhe Liyou meant.

“Long Xizhao once told zhen about military doctors.
The number of wounded in the war was too much and military doctors had become severely insufficient.
While you can save many people on the battlefield, have you ever thought that maybe you could save even more people?”

“How to save?”
